this week's exercise! ugly monsters i did with magic pens and colour pencils...

hmmm... pink eye, wiggle-wiggle tentacles and mould on top

then this monster with short hairy tentacles and mouldy body

cannot be explained. i don't know what i was thinking... all i can tell you the tongue coils around the victim like snakes , snatches you up and into those jaws teeth. the lines are sketchy. horrible. i was getting impatient and sleepy.

lab 20 Miro Abstract

it is said that we must learn from the grandmasters. last week i did Picasso (a really tough one, i think). and this week, it's Joan Miro! clap clap clap.

i absolutely enjoyed this exercise. all those wiggly symbols are fun to draw :D and definitely makes more sense than my miserable 'missing dog poster'.

a disaster has struck a certain part of the jungle- i ran out of books to read for the next two months.

normally such disturbance in the universe doesn't happen to me. i plan my reading pace well, making sure i get my regular ~~drug~~ book sniff.

so i point finger at the very case that leads to my current predicament...

recently i have been quite ill, to the point that i had to be excused from work for days. so when i wasn't knocked out from the pill cocktail, i read. and i read too much, ended up finishing my reading materials for the next two months. bravo me NOT!

well, i still have that unfinished 'catcher in the rye' sitting in a dark corner, sending me dark vibes now and then. tonight, perhaps i will lure it out of the dark with some milk.

a vineyard in Malaysia? i never thought that was possible till recently, and the place happens to be so near home!

welcome to Ladang Anggur Tasik Beris, Kedah. and what grander welcome can a vineyard provide but this spectacular view.

hence i present, the unscientific documentation of all things grape.

my absolute favourite!

i was told that the heat was excruciating in the farm. it was. but the lush green vines above my head and pretty patches of soft mould around my feet distracted me from registering the heat. only after i left the site that i realised i was drenched in sweat :D

to cool down, my team of wannabe botanists headed to the waterfalls. we all sat in silence on the rocks, dipped our feets in the chilly flow and savoured nature's orchestra. a zen moment for me.

our last destination for our day trip was the Wat Charok Padang, the famous glass bottle temple.

and now we move on to flowers, fungi and fruits.

this bright yellow, happy-looking flower grows on really tall trees! i happen to stumble upon a fallen one. lucky!

wow! i just noticed the spider on them.

my friend told me we put this in laksa. makes me hungry just looking at it.

this is the first time i have seen a pinkish one.

this was a dangerous shot to take. i had to stray from the tracks, into the bush for this. i could have been kidnapped by monkeys!

there were so many on the trail to choose from. i am still upset that another lady picked up a leaf bigger than mine. boohoo...

compared to a lollipop (consumed right after) and iphone (not mine)

now i just need to get my hands on some hairspray to preserve the leaf. it's a happy ornament on my wall now.

Rainforest Discovery Centre

my RM5 was never this well spent. last week, i visited the Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre. after they attached a sticker (i presume it's to tell us apart from orang utans) to my shirt, i was allowed to run amok in the jungle... with a map of course.

there's a lot of thing one can do in the jungle, proclaim yourself the king of jungle, steal a monkey's lunch, impersonate a tree, etc. etc.

i cruised a big lake on a paddle boat, while taking pictures and snacking banana chips at the same time. the view was fantastic, especially near the banks under the tree shades where i got a nice ~~stalking~~ spot to ~~stalk~~ admire one of the tallest and also my favourite tree in the jungle.

and unscientifically documented every single plant i came across and petrified creatures that unfortunately steered into my path. i need a separate post just to show a fraction of what i photographed.

listened to bird orchestras. it's a grand stage here, the birds in their colourful fancy feathery tail coats can really sing, like a bird! then, i came across some enthused bird watchers with equipment so fancy that i was tempted to ask if i could spot planets with their massive telescope-like cameras.

but nothing tops the canopy walk, or what i dubbed the fear factor challenge. the canopy walk is a staggering tall network of towers for visitors to admire the top of the jungle canopy. connecting the towers are vertigo-inducing corridors: by looking at your feet, you can clearly see the jungle floor through the metal floor grids. no kidding that it's really reeaaaaalllllllly a long way down. bad news indeed for an eager tree stalker who is afraid of heights. so with my hands tightly latched onto the sidebars, i wobbled on. here's a snippet from my train of thought at that moment,

ooOH [insert curse] don't. look. down! DON'T look down [insert curse]... look at the trees! TREES! WOOO! that's a pretty tree! pretttyyy! Oh NO! descending steps ahead [insert curse] [insert curse] [insert curse] DON'T DON'T look down....

i didn't take many pictures on the towers. my hands were shaking too much to focus properly =.=!

this pretty much detailed the commotion i caused in the jungle. i will get into more exciting stories in my next post.

lab 11: Cheater Blinds

more disfiguring my family and friends. i drew the outline of my brother and mother based on their pictures without looking at the paper (occasional looking is permitted). then, add details with a finer point pen.

at this point, i believe i am beyond redemption. the gates of home forever close on me...

maybe i should try doing this again, with coloured markers! exciting exciting.

news: i just deleted my YuenDoodles blog a few days ago. what i might do after this is to move to another platform/portfolio or start a new blog under the same name. will think over this carefully and keep everyone posted. goodnight!

Manila: pictures that don't belong

when we were not stalking buildings or power cables, we played scrabble! my friend has this awesome travel edition where the tiles magically stick to the board! i later found out that there was such a thing called magnetism. thanks to that, we can now play Scrabble With Magic Tiles regardless of flight conditions, from turbulence to spiralling out of control. ~~magnetism~~ magic indeed, i insist.

lab 9: wrong hand portraits

draw portraits of friends and family with your left hand. this is out it turned out.

in my defense, i had to use MY LEFT HAND, draw with INK PEN and look at the their faces 60% of the time.

my camera never stopped snapping! the spanish inspired buildings around Intramuros are a building stalker's haven. every arch, every doorway and every brick is art.

don't you just love those haphazard cables? fascinating death traps.

if only i can photoshop the crowd out.

this church has a replica of the shroud of Turin! i looked all over for it. didn't find the display :(

this wraps up my stalking report. notice how awfully hot the weather was? i was so absorbed in my 'assignment' (umbrella-less, sunscreen protection-less and was wearing shorts, unlike the rest of the crowd) and failed to notice how ~~oven-bake perfection~~ sunburned i was by the end of the day :-(

i went to Manila, Philippines for the weekend, unaware that it was not the best time to visit. apparently all the malls and museums were closed on Good Friday and Black Saturday. T.T

but i did get to walk around public places in Intramuros, checked out the churches and stalked fantastic buildings!

the Manila Cathedral at all possible angles, without getting stampeded. the place was packed with worshippers.

the market around the cathedral. people were selling food, odd trinkets and souvenirs.

they looked so pretty! i really wanted to know what this uncle was selling but i was too afraid to ask.

the lady was even posing for me. she must be too accustomed to tourist attention haha.

no more animals! hooray! i have moved on to the next chapter: people. and i am starting with drawing eyes (top of the list of things i enjoy to draw the most!)

draw the eye (provided by the book, gorgeous eye by the way) as accurately as i can with the following medium

the purpose of the exercise is to, according to my Guru, for me 'get a sense of what medium i respond to the most'. it seems i am most comfortable with pencils :-)

choose 4 drawing utensils, all with different colours and draw a monkey face based on photo references.
i chose a black chisel tip permanent marker, a blue ball pen, orange and green watercolour pencils.
and picked a random monkey face from google image.

pita bread and tartlets are yummy

do you know pita bread makes great pizza bases? i tried piling everything i like on it and slid the super combo into the oven, 180 degrees for 10 minutes and then i get this :-)

it tasted fantastic! i should really experiment with different food combinations more often and have charcoal pills ready, in case of bad chemical reactions. haha.

a few shots at a fruit tartlet i bought from a night market. its unfortunate twin, a chocolate tartlet was devoured before the thought of documenting it crossed my mind.

imaginary creatures

i skipped 4 labs, for now. two of them required a zoo visit (will be arranged) and i don't have the materials for the other two (that means shopping yeah yeah!)

lab 8: Imaginary Creatures

daub layers and layers of watercolour all over the paper and try to see the outline of a creature. i seriously adore this exercise! it's something i have always been inadvertently doing since a kid: stare at a wall, a rock formation or a texture and trace whatever image that presented itself. it's good fun especially when i find a funny face. haha.

in the midst of these colourful strokes, i saw a cute bear cub, a magnificent crane, an evil bunny and a goldfish. and i decided to go with the bunny just because it's evil and smirking at me! kukuku.

in fact, it's so much fun that i have decided to do another one:D
this time i saw a weasel, the head of a seagull, a snail and a dolphin. i traced the dolphin since i have never drew one before. it turned out to be such a distorted fish :p

darn, i now know what went wrong, i googled the picture of a dolphin. it's the position of the eye. no wonder it looked so sad. boohoo me.

lab 3: My pet project

i have no pets so i adopted a squirrel from youtube :D
and i don't have a drawing charcoal (i love this medium btw, make such graceful bold lines) with me right now so improvised with a 6B pencil.

the exercise is called gesture drawing, it means do quick sketches of animal movements. i am to behave like a camera: look on target, snap a movement, burn the image into my retina and produce it on paper in seconds.

these are sketches deemed safe for the public eye. the rest doesn't resemble any life forms at all T.T

i can assure you these are really squirrels:p

i am supposed to stare at pictures of giraffes and draw them without looking at the paper. but i peeked a little, just to make sure my pen was still on the paper. ~lalalaa...

see, i am too good at disfigurating them beyond recognition T.T

hello giraffe. giraffe who? giraffe you. giraffe ME?! that's what i call identity crisis.

some photoshop with a picture of a pavements i took in Macau. they looked like giraffe patches to me hehe.

note to self, work on you poor photoshop skills!

urgh, should have keep it simple with watercolour. the yellow lines i added totally ruin it:p

normally i don't draw animals, they are difficult, difficult and way too difficult. i am more of a tree ~~stalker~~ person. but drawing lab wants me to draw animals for the entire chapter (8 exercises)! i only get to draw plants after enduring 5 chapters... cries.

nevertheless, i will survive the animal kingdom and maybe develop a ~~stalking tendency~~ liking towards them. well, i was obsessed with giraffe heads for 10 minutes, at least. that's quite a start.

lastly, the disclaimer.

i swear upon my uni 0.2 waterproof black ink pen that no breathing giraffes (adult or baby) were harmed in the process. and don't send my drawings to WHO accusing me of disfiguring giraffes for my own psychopathic amusement. ~~hmmm, that's actually true..~~ they might thought it's an undocumented species, or worst: an alien race!

i drew some cats with my paper propped on my pillow, chose a few that i like and photoshopped them. everything done under the influence of malta and cheezels :p

i have a limited collection of textures and photo stocks, so just make do with whatever i have with me right now, grid paper.

so i made a pact with myself that i WILL complete at least one exercise every week! the proof of my work will be posted here (YuenDoodles is on hiatus). sigh, i hope this will cultivate what's left of my creative juice.

a new face

i sent my blog for makeover. now it has a new colour scheme, a new banner and a new 'about' tab (last update 5 years ago by the way).

the doodle was ripped from my latest sketchbook project entry and the horrible font was my own handwriting :p there was a small story that inspired the way i wrote my letter 'g'. i will see if i have the mood to indulge any one about it.

the case of bad grammar

i just read some of my older posts, dated back last year and beyond. everything was terrible: bad grammar, misleading facts, expressions gone wrong... flush me down the toilet pronto!

now i understand why a friend of mine wanted to burn her course assignments from the first year. i have torch and gas at standby, any time you need my assistance dear.

and i foresee that, in a couple of years to come, i might throw out blood while reading what i wrote today :)
ish ish ish~ how personal growth can be such a gory mess?!

what about my doodles in the past? my first few sketchbooks behind the shelves? let's just nip that budding thought this instance for the sake of my mental health and the balance of the universe.

at least i still like my nasty sense of humour (if that's the proper term for it), the imagery amuses me and probably me alone. kukuku.

alas, i should stop rambling. it's already way past twelve on a weekday night. have some warm milk, picture a happy place and get some real sleep, though that doesn't come easily these days.

art school or not

i am reading a *zine (see bottom for explanation) that might considerably influence a decision that i am going to make.

Good to Know Issue #5: Do you think that artists need to have degrees/ qualifications from art school in order to be one? did you study art? does it matter?

the zine discusses an issue that has been constantly plaguing every living cell of my body and at times, robs me of sleep. i call it the the million paintbrush question: does art education matter? do i need it?

i have been weighing options through the typical pros and cons list. it's a terribly long one, with lots of revisions =.=! and now i am reading artists' opinions on this matter. expect another revised list after the read.

what scares me the most is the decision that i will eventually (can't sweep under the carpet any longer) have to make. in the utmost circumstance, the decision might lead to a career change. a complete deviation from what i am currently doing.

oh! i can feel a migraine coming just from typing this. now, i excuse myself to continue my reading and brood over the options for the n-th time.

zine: a self-published paper, Internet magazine, or other periodical, issued at irregular intervals with and usually appealing to a specialist readership (says Encarta Dictionary).

The Exquisite Book: 100 Artists play a collaborative game, Julia Rothman and friends. i browsed through some digitalised pages online and ~~got obsessed about it~~ really love it. hey, i get to stalk 100 illustrators at the same time in one book, that's a thumbs up bargain for me.

what the collaborative game is about,

Each artist contributed one page to the book. The first artist was given a few words to inspire their drawing. Each of the following artists only saw the page that immediately preceded their own. Each artist used images (and optionally, words) to create the continuation to the story, and the inspiration for the next artist in line.

it might take awhile before i can get them all. except for Shaun Tan (picture books don't usually cost more than RM80, and i always go for ~~the greatest gift for mankind!~~ paperback versions, it's half the hardcover's price), the rest of the books cost around RM110-150 each!! maybe i should set up a fundraising campaign or blackmail friends and family into buying me some. kukuku...

i have been thinking about YuenDoodles a lot lately. for those who aren't aware of it, YuenDoodles is where i post my illustrations. it's meant to be a portfolio showcasing how messed up this embarrassing thing, called my brain is.

and it's now paralysed.

the site hasn't been doing well. the traffic shows that i have an average of 10 pageviews each month, that screams pathetic in bold and caps. and i barely get any hellos, ~~compliments:p~~, or constructive criticisms. this can be quite demotivating for someone who has just, back in a few years, gathered enough guts to start showing her doodles to anybody for the first time in x years of existence. this someone probably needs therapy...

it's an emergency and this calls for a strategy meeting. me, my brain (yes, it's a separate entity), my dominant hand (yet another stubborn and separate entity) and my pencil decided that we should approach things differently (for once, there's an agreement). instead of diving right into the sea of Internet and let the Hokusai waves toss us around, like what we did with the blog, we have decided to find a private beach- an art community that fits my needs and is willing to accept a walking disaster like me/us.

as a matter of fact, i do belong to some art communities: DeviantArt and ArtHouse Coop. DeviantArt is where i stalk illustrators, diligently collect their every artwork and stick them all over my desktop just to worship and to declare my undying love 10 times a day. but DA is not the place for my work. it's now strictly for my stick figures:P

moving on to ArtHouse Coop. that's where i participated in the Sketchbook Project. it's a cozy community focusing on cool art projects, the very place that made me realised! that i actually need a network to communicate and to get help from the right people... for once (abused phrase of the day), i get people who know their stuff to seriously talk about mine. yet again, the AHC community primarily revolves around the projects that they initiate. not all my works fit there.

what do i need? (might expand later)

an art community for amateur illustrators,
affiliated to pros and the industry,
good rapport between illustrators,
has a great gallery interface,
and preferably has a shop.

so i turned to this site that features 15 thriving art communities online. i painstakingly browsed through each and every community looking for a place to be. the entire ordeal was best represented by ---> @.@!

currently i am considering Illustration Friday (i have been following their blog all these time), design:related (this is KIV, they looked too pro) and Society6 (*.* i like). if you have any other suggestions, drop me a note. it will be very much appreciated (hugs in advance).

i believe i have stumbled upon the best japanese restaurant in Penang- Kirishima Restaurant in Cititel Penang. every dish looked like art, thus the whole dining experience felt like an art gallery visit. not only the food looked visually appealing, they tasted yummilicious too!

i let the food do all the convincing.

the drool-inducing bento sets. look at THE authentic tableware, THE sakura shaped carrot slices, THE colour combinations, THE placements of everything. très bien! definitely a yoda master at work. this is indeed a legendary gastronomical experience.

i ate this piece of art, with utmost respect my breeding could muster, after praising (in 5 languages), taking shots of all possible angles, analysing the construction and parading it around the table. i pretty much did that to every single dish.

the restaurant has evolved my tongue to a higher order of taste, and has forced me to revise my views on what is considered a delicious japanese meal. oh! how can i ever dine in any normal japanese restaurant ever again?! how tragic.

rumours speak of charcoal roasted coffee beans in Komtar Walk, Penang. so we tracked the shop down with satellite surveillance and invaded the quiet Japanese themed cafe.

Coob Coffee, also known as i-will-come-again-with-a-larger-battalion cafe serves Sumiyaki coffee. the beans are warped from Japan (the future!) and brewed in a sci-fi looking coffee machine.

it was good. and we ended up having seconds.

the cafe also serves hot dishes, like this kinoko spaghetti that we tried. no pictures, i apologise. my camera shutter speed was no match to my comrade's speed of devouring the dish. haha

homemade burger

the C.O.D. (cause of death) of my blog? my life has been extremely boring these days.

here's a post to give you false hope that it will revive.

as expected, nothing sensational. i will now bore you with domestic stuff...

tonight i made a chicken burger from scratch. that means a homemade patty! (so tempted to caps lock this sentence. kukuku) ah! i can't help feeling tremendously accomplished at this moment. smug smug.

here's the only shot of my burger. dull angle, i understand but at then it was a landslide victory when i weighed the thoughts between eating a still piping hot burger and photographing one :D
that just means i need to make them again for a better shot.

the lack of pictures calls for more descriptions. the burger ended up being too tall and it was impossible to get a bit of everything in one bite. greedy me stacked a fat patty, eggs, cheese and a huge lump of thick-cut veges in between an already large bun. haha.

and in attempt to achieve an 'amiable' post length, i present you yesterday's dinner. vege soup for the lazy bums. throw a bit of everything in your fridge into boiling water and tadaa...

hmm... is it just me or the dish looked more like a hot pot?

i was down with flu and fever these few days, guess what i did besides taking medicine and sleep?

so i ripped some pictures off google image, mutilate them beyond recognition and taa-da~

the end product is this horrible looking... outer space?? i don't blame you the slightest if you couldn't make out what is it. haha:D

Macau: Casinos

we went to five casinos in Macau: Lisboa and Grand Lisboa in Peninsular Macau. then the Venetian, HardRock Casino and The City of Dreams in Taipa. what their have in common other than gambling means? they are all so freaking intimidating.

Lisboa and Grand Lisboa made me dizzy with their bling bling neon lights, crystal chandeliers, gold paved hallways and national treasure rank decorations (no kidding! the jewels, the chinese vases and the busts O.O). i swear all those luxuries had sucked up all my Ong 'luck' for a lifetime the moment i set my eyes on them. how can you actually walk out of these places with your valuables still attached? i felt like being swallowed! haha.

from Vegas, we went to Venice. the Venetian. the impressive exterior says it all. but pardon the bad weather, it has done great injustice to Venetian's magnificence.

and the interior? the golden sculptures, the (fake) European wall paintings, gold gold gold everywhere. so dazzling that i won't notice my coins slipping out of my wallets into the slot machines, at light speed. all they need, i reckon as a final touch, are hologram angels with their harps, singing hymms. the Venetian is also a high class indoor shopping mall by the way. it was purposely designed to look like you are shopping in broad daylight at all times. simply architecturally amazing.

unfortunately, i don't have pictures featuring The City of Dreams and HardRock casino. but you must go there for its free show, the bubbles. it's a cool 20 mins visual assault about Dragons and their minions dancing around, feasting on your luck. all in a very spherical theater. i felt revitalised with 'poor' energy after watching it hoho. fun!

if i were to choose my favourite casino, then it would be HardRock casino. it's relatively small compared to its jurassic peers. also less elaborated. i guess it made my wallet felt safer haha. and i have grown attached to my babysitter, the 2cents slot machine that kept me entertained the entire time my parents snooped around the gambling tables. the free flow of drinks helped too:D

next up. Macau here and there.

Macau: heritage walk

i am not posting the places according to my travel chronology. we kinda visited the places at different times and revisited some places (again and again, just because we like to. ah! the fun of planning trips on your own. you get to go places at whim). usually, people would start the trail from A-Ma temple, the oldest temple in Macau and work their way up to Mount Fortress. and then visit Guia Fortress and the lighthouse if they have the time (i don't think most tour groups go there).

at whim, we were near St Paul's everyday: watching people, inspecting brickwork (that's me), counting the number of stairs, photographing every possible angle of St Paul's (that's me again), soaking the view, stalking cute balconies (who else?), snacking on the staircase... completely making ourselves at home.

i was in Neverneverland. drools...

the only thing that bothered me was the crowd. does Macau has more tourists than locals? i seriously believe that. i saw people in hats, camera, name tags, not speaking anything remotely Cantonese and following a flag:) they were everywhere! EVERYWHERE! they (with great dedication, i believe) would suddenly pop out and sabotage my prefect cute building shots T.T big bullies they were! not even Photoshop could remove those ugly neon shirts. ~bluek!

another worth mentioning spot is the street leading to St Paul's, where lunch was snacking free food samples. i don't have many pictures of the food or stores there. free food can be really distracting. lalala...

here, you get to try all their local products: biscuits (you name it, almond, groundnuts, ginger, meat fillings...) , dried meat (porks of various maturity and origins, ostrich, beef, chicken, duck...), nougats... absolutely free! they literally shoveled samples at my fingers and mouth (i thought spoon-feeding me with their tongs was more precise actually), begging me to eat! how could i say no? and some shops were even considerate enough to give out drinking water. it's a thirsty job cross-examining almond biscuits from shop A to Z huhu.

last but not least, A-Ma temple.

it's actually not that majestic, compared to the temples in my place. but the gentle breeze on the tip of the hillside temple was soothing. it felt nice having you hair gently patting your skin. hair commercials should definitely look into that:)

Macau: Augusters Lodge

my family went to Macau last week. and stingy me made everyone stayed in a backpacker's, instead of a hotel. with cooperation from my accomplice, google, we found Augusters Lodge. reviews convinced me that the place is clean, at a good location and is relatively comfortable.

finding the place on your own might be a bit tricky, because of the number of shops and houses around the area. but the taxi drivers, aka the know-it-alls has no problem pin pointing the building on the street, blindfolded, provided that the address is in Chinese. then it is up to you to find the apartment in the building, relying solely on you talent to read instructions. grasp! tough. i know.

me being nice is giving out hints. Augusters Lodge is between these two shops.

beyond the staircase is dungeons and dragons, the real deal. stay alive, get lost a few times at the forking staircases (totally a maze) and be rewarded.

i don't have much to complain bout the place. it's very clean and everything is functioning. just that the mattress was a bit lumpy and made my back sore. the bathroom was tiny but you will get used to bumping your arms against the confined space after some time. i survived 5days without bruises or serious head damages. good enough.

the best-est part of the stay? Augusters Lodge is ridiculously near one of the most famous egg tart cafes in Macau, Margaret's cafe e nata. i could see the shop from my room, i could smell the tarts from my room and i ate there everyday:D

each Portuguese tart is 8MOP and as you can see, there's a queue. there's permanently a queue.

next up. the herritage site that made my camera smoked.

Kopi Cine

look at all the different chairs around the table! that alone made me want to work there! i say every corner is ripped from a magazine.

adjacent to the shop is a library which is also part of the restaurant. a perfect 'grab a book, order a coffee and snug up' kind of spot. prefer an outdoor tea party setting? behind the cafe is a roofless garden clearing just like a traditional Nyonya house.

i went for a simple cafe latte and loved its creamy foam, just the way i like it. dad liked his single shot espresso but little brother thought their double shot was overheated, there was a sour aftertaste:p

and the best part of the cafe... again i squealed (i bet dad squealed inside too) was the paper covering on the table. they give you Buncho crayons to doodle on it!

Pac Man at google

google has kept me entertained with their pac-man playable banner. apparently, it's Pac-Man's 30th anniversary.

if you have never noticed, google being googlish always have funky banners whenever there's a celebration or an event.

and i being me took the effort to collect as many cool banners as i can haha (geek mode). and i dare say this is the coolest google banner ever!

i have always love pac-man when i was still pea-sized. it's probably one of the earliest games in my gaming ~~career~~ experience:D

so far i have only reached 4 fruits in this game. wonder if i can go beyond that level. continues playing...

the midi-music, pixels!! so nostalgic. now all i need is a pre-windows computer. that's a glimpse of my childhood!

btw, pac-man at google is only available today so don't miss it. i know some of my friends were hooked on this the whole day:D

a wedding on water

i went to one of the most adventurous wedding reception ever. guess where?

on an island accessible only by boat.

after work, my colleagues and i carpooled to the jetty and from there, we took their water taxi to the island just opposite the mainland. the neighbourhood took me by surprise! my cute house stalking mode was suddenly activated. apparently, all the houses are on water. for quick dip, just dive from your windows.

and to visit your neighbours, you would have to take a boat. but some houses are connected via wooden bridges.

it's sucha refreshing experience. i was all wooo waaa along the journey. my colleagues and i were so awkward when boarding the rocking boat and climbing up the platforms (did i mention that we had to hop from one boat to another to get to the houses? so cool). we even have to take off our shoes to get a better grip, a complete opposite to the agile locals. not to mention that we snapped pictures non stop from the taxi- i bet the locals must have thought us odd and laughable. who gets so worked up in a public transport anyway?? haha.

that's was one splendid afternoon. i wonder if i will ever get to blog about my second trip to Kota Kinabalu. procrastination visits me too often:p

why drive so fast: theories

i came up with theories to explain one of the greatest mysteries of our time: why do people drive so fast. and believe me when i say i came up with most of the theories while waiting for the cars to move slower so i can finally cross the road in one breathing piece.

theory 1: they don't want me to cross the road because i write horrible twisted facts about them in my blog. it's payback for disregarding their speeding rights. yes, people who drives more than 60km/h in town do have rights too, so does the flattened person on the road, so does the cranky pedestrian carrying a week's worth of grocery who waited more than 10 minutes to cross the road.

theory 2: they need to be the first in line in front of the traffic lights. a chance of a lifetime to finally beat someone at something.

theory 3: training for the position of an ambulance driver. the oncoming interview must have made them too nervous to remember their sirens.

theory 4: they don't know their strength. the slightest pressure bottoms the accelerator.

and all these reminded me of some mat rempit issues in my hometown. then again, i shouldn't elaborate much as questioning others' beliefs has always been a controversial issue. just overlook the fact that these people are eagerly trying to fulfill their destiny as roadkills.

apart from emergencies. please try, with all the will in the universe, to drive within the speed limit.

drive safely. think of your loved ones and the loved ones of other breathing objects on the roads that you ~~intended to~~ might run over.

by the way, which theory do you think is as a matter of fact, a fact? :D

can't believe it. i got spooked playing batman: the scarecrow act T.T spineless.

my fingers went numb and i forgot my controls (like how do i walk again??)

i am SCARED!!! freaked out BIG time!! overwhelmed with TERROR and PANIC!! Exclamation Marks!!!! spineless.

oh! no! i am sooooo getting laughed at. (kerbau: hahaha) fellow gamers out there, spare me my dignity, at least don't spam comments like hahaha or LOLX or :D coz i refuse to be responsible for the virtual bullet in your can-no-longer-laugh-anymore head.

why do i freaked out at a psycho with zero fashion sense threatening my life with needles, when i am usually the maniac one, laughing bloody murder while cutting my way through err... anything in my way??

me ~~usually~~ not scared of snipers aiming at me head, or monsters at the size of my whole screen, or demons with 1 hit KO strength or a few hordes of zombies, or... in fact, i think i am scarier than most of them. muahahahaaaa

BUT it seems that psychos still outranked me in terms of... well,... perhaps... psycho-ness.

this is painfully reminding me of the buzzing radio in silent hill. i can never get over that. T.T

again, spineless.

maybe i should just kill off the sound effects, at least get rid of the 'whispers in my head'.

sandakan heritage museum

i went to the Sandakan heritage museum. the excitement? the entrance alone explains a lot.

but there were some interesting old things: an old camera at the height of my shoulder, animal displays and lots of photocopied photos (i wonder why they won't display the real thing).

perhaps my favourite artifact (not many to choose from however) was the vault. it was actually open for visitors to lock themselves in, but then no one will notice me screaming my lungs out if i really did. maybe next time when i bring a friend along- i was really hoping to try out if i can get any phone signal in that room:)

i finished browsing in less than 1/2 hour- a mortifying record that i hope will remain so for the rest of my museum visiting life.

nevertheless, do drop by. for this not-so-typical-museum museum is a unique experience all by itself. one cannot help but to hope that the dimmed corridors and empty displays are no mirror to Sandakan's heritage future.

now to bore you with yet another of my mundane days.

went to watch "Alice in Wonderland" today, alone. my housemate ditched me for the comforts of her home (i am gonna change the locks after this:P). but never mind, i was planning to ditch the world for Arkham anyway.

back to what i was actually mundanely writing about, it's unbelievable that the perfect combo (Saturday+movie just released yesterday) failed to attract people here to the cinemas! it was so devoid of homo sapiens to the point that i can say i booked the entire session all for myself:D

then i ran some errands, did groceries, blah blah blah and bought this.

which stingy me carried back the huge box + groceries by bus. hey, taxi is RM10 while the bus is RM0.70 to my place. it's clear who will win forever. the jury in my head didn't even open the file.

please don't yawn. at least not in front of the screen.

people say i am permanently daydreaming. it's tough being me when you have an ADHD brain. just the brain. it won't stay thoughtless and it's always trying to be at a few places/dimensions at the same time. here's my history log of the whereabouts of my thoughts today. pretend be entertained.

while i was climbing the stairs with my groceries and The Huge Box, "what should i write today? blog about my random thoughts? ooo, how bout..." and finished drafting my post when i reached my door. no wonder i roll down the stairs... occasionally =.=!

backpacking Singapore 02

my list of tourist and us terrorised areas...

1. around Chinatown

first thing i did straight out of the overcrowded MRT station was ogling at the colourfully painted old straits shophouses. only then i realised the presence of the bustling street markets and red lanterns. mum smacked some sense into her dazed, traffic blocking daughter.

Chinatown is 'too!'. too much architecture to ogle at, too much food to try, too many lanes to explore, too crowded and too much goods from China =.=! sorry that i have no pictures to share. a not-to-be-mentioned-EVER mishap cost me to lose all my pictures in Chinatown. tragedy T.T

2. Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

this is the cleanest zoo i have ever been to! i doubt there's a single flea on the animals haha.

3. Orchard Road

the result of squeezing more than 30 shopping outlets on a street.... i was pointing out to mom the obvious difference between high-end mall shoppers and commoner plaza shoppers looked: trendy frocks vs plain shirt and jeans. and outside the ring, tourists like us, in flipflops with a worn-out map :D

lucky us as it was near Christmas, the entire street was a myriad of ornaments, red, white and gold. splendid! tourist, at the flash of their ~~worn-out maps and flip-flops~~ passports got free Hippo bus rides (roofless double decker)!

4. Little India

went there to see some legendary electronic stores and dined at Muthu curry.

5.Holland Village

great restaurants, nice art galleries and a mall selling all things oriental -.-! dined at a good vegetarian Mediterranean restaurant, Original Sin... too indulged in our Moussaka, pizza and a prinsipessa salad to take pictures :p

6. the MERLION

the ultimate proof that one really sets foot on Singapore soil. we did lots of weird poses there: shower under the puke, drink the puke, catch the puke... i almost went swimming trying to take this.

before that, we were opposite the banks in the Esplanade. me was stealing free pretty postcards for me wall:) and i think we saw someone really famous there, a singer perhaps, getting interviewed by a tv crew... who knows? i won't be able to tell even if Brad Pitt is standing right beside me. not until the fans ran over me, and only read about it on yesterday's papers in the hospital. huhu

7. City Hall

We went to their museums and art galleries during hours when they are free! hehe. totally stingy:p

i really liked this place... there's a lot of street art/ sculptures to spot at the oddest places. my favourite sport:)

and check this out. the stone age ancestor to Photoshop. only mom was able to explain its mechanism o.o! ahahahaa...

8. Clark Quay

Clark quay is very alive at night: blazing neons and restaurants packed with diners. a looooonnnng riverside walk took us to Fullerton Hotel. a post office turned 5 star hotel. we gawked at the lambos outside then at the architecture inside. loitered around the lounge (oh, is that someone in tux playing on the babygrand?) and sneaked into their toilets so i can do my mandatory ~~snooping~~ inspection... toilet papers with the ends folded in triangle, cushion seats in the toilet... wow

i assured mom she will get to stay there for real when i open my international tuition center... yeah right:p

9. Suntec

we went there just to look at their giant disco/ fengshui?/ wishing fountain. it was... erm... something really different i guess... lalala

woohoo. i managed to stuff everything in one post

backpacking Singapore 01

Singapore is fantastic. clean, food is fabulous, clean, good public transport (the manual is 2 inch thick!), clean, internet is cheap, clean, decent museums and art galleries, clean and clean.

let's talk about my favourite part of Singapore- the public toilets! i made it compulsory to check out all the toilets of all the places i have been to: the airport, the MRT stations, the temples, the malls, the hotels and the restaurants. they never cease to impress me. whom-ever-secret service-responsible treat toilets like a clean room in hospitals! seriously. dry floors, dentol scented air, unlimited supply of liquid hair soap and toilet paper. every time you exit a toilet booth or finish washing your hands, an eager ~~secret service agent~~ cleaner will materialise and set everything back into order (well, it's not like i really messed up the place anyway, a stray droplet of water beside the sink, at most). it's magical. i was soo tempted to 'accidentally' drop a tissue on the floor just to see the cleaner sprinting in with tongs:D

and the best toilet award so far (yes, i am still rambling about toilets, bear with me) goes to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. people, we have heard of auto soap dispensers, auto flush and sinks with motion sensors but have you step into a dark toilet only to find it spring into life? what a pleasant surprise! step out and it retreats into darkness again *.* call me a cave girl but at that moment, i felt like i was in a Sci-fi movie. huhu

enough about toilets (ignores collective sighs in relief), let me introduce you to my backpacker place- Backpacker's Inn Chinatown: cheap, clean, comfortable and safe like every good backpacker inn should be. the nice owner threw in hot showers, free unlimited internet access, free laundry and free towels... that made me this close } { to move in the place for good. haha.

mom (aka the oldest backpacker ever, i assume), baby brother drake and I bunk in a triple private room. with a free tourist map, a public transport manual and a direction klutz of a brother who studied there, we roamed Singapore during the day and passed out at the sight of our IKEA beds at night.

ok. some updates on what i have been doing during these MIA months.

i went backpacking for a week. will boast! my Great adventures later...

then i went to an international ~~concentration~~ Confucian camp for another week. lots of seminars, coffee, long toilet queues, people, people and people. it's on the news if you read any Chinese papers. huhu

and i divorced my old lappy and eloped with

it's the greatest thing that happened in 2009!

went to a balinese inspired Siamese restaurant =.=! to have good tapai and horrible Siamese food. it's a new attraction in my town.

lastly managed to send my sketchbook project moleskine back to Alanta, US in time. woohoo! it's now on tour throughout some galleries in US. hope somebody, anybody... bothers to pick mine in the midst of zillions of wonderful works

just hope that i won't go into comatose any sooner after this post...

Kota Kinabalu escape Day 3

i went to the Monsopiad Cultural Village on my last day. honestly i was disappointed at what was being offered there. the journey itself was discouraging enough as my friends and i have to wander far away from civilisation into narrow paths with minimum road signs. at many points, we thought we were lost.

and i shall not elaborate about my head being ripped off by the entrance fee and boost about my terrorism there.

impressive headgear

we watched a half an hour cultural show, featuring 2 traditional dances and a sumpit hunting demonstration. then we national geographically documented the place by taking pictures at all possible angles.

the only adventurous/ fun activity of the day was to walk on the rickety hanging bridge, which i might have accidentally traumatised my friend by sprinting across it, several times.

across the monsopiad village is the House of Skulls, another disappointment as i was expecting something along a catacomb (my fault for ill research and playing too much zombie games). my friends claimed that the museum has a better collection than this, and it's free o.O!

after we featured ourselves in some slinging with clay, sumpiting and walking with bamboo sticks circus show, we went to have our welcoming drink, better phrased as byebye drink:tapai served chilled in a bamboo cup (that's when i received my Gundam consulting call:p).

the national geographic explorers then packed their gear and drove back to town for pudding tea and yogurt ice cream without looking back even once.

my advice to other national geographic or not explorers, this is not a place for you if you

1. expect skulls hanging at all four corners of the wall.

2. expect villagers roaming around, reenacting history.

3. expect this to be a whole day tour (we finished it in less than 2 hrs)

4. expect lots of labels and enough history documentation to write a book.

5. don't really have much to spend (the transportation and entrance fee is modern day head hunting in a sense)

6. attract mozzies (bring some insect repellent)

yogurt toppings. i suggest red bean+mandarin oranges+mango

Fall season anime

new season! new animes! great responsibility! i am now religiously reviewing new animes in hope to find some that ~~i can convert to~~ are worth watching. hehe.

from the fall releases, so far, these are on my 'will try to watch and see if i can survive the first two episodes without brain damage' list.

Darker than black II- this is pretty much on my watch list. i followed the 1st one and generally enjoy anything from BONES:)

To aru Kagaku no Railgun- watched 'to aru majitsu no index' before and survived the annoying characters, so might as well give the gaiden a try. seems very high quality too.

Fairy Tail- same mangaka from Rave. i have no clue what the story might be about but will try just for the sake of the mangaka.

Kimi ni Todoke- other reviewers said it's really good. but i am skeptical bout shoujo+romance genres. this better not make my brain cells evaporate from mushiness.

Kobato- a CLAMP that i might enjoy the style but not the story. in danger of sleeping through it. alarm clock ready.

Yume iro Pastissiere- is on my list just because of the word 'cake' (drools). it's about a cake baking school. typical shoujo like gakuen alice i assume. huhu.

Shakugan no Shana S- followed all the chronicles so far. hope it's not as bad as SnS II.

Seitokai no Ichizon- about a student council in a private school. seems to have lots of anime parodies... i have a galactic-size soft spot for that.

Book of Bantorra- trailer told me when a person dies, one becomes a book. concept seems interesting and there's lot of weapons flying around and explosions going off at all directions *.* haha.

so let's see who's qualified to enter my watch list...

Kota Kinabalu escape Day 2

first the wetland, now the islands. ~rubs palms

our merry company of two left Jesselton Point for Manukan Island.

Jesselton Point is a charming hang out place: pier cafes and restaurants, boardwalks with fancy street lamps, souvenir stalls, tourists, tourists, tourists... but there's a daunting side to it; the travel agencies prowl tourists like tigers hunting prey. and then you need superb bargaining skills (my resume says i have none) to get the cheapest price. thank goodness my companion conducts courses on that subject :D

we reached Manukan Island via motorboat, a trilling, most-of-the-time-suspended-in-the-air ride. there i did snorkeling, passed out under the trees, swimming, passed out on the rocks, snorkeling, passed out on the... nothing could be better! the sea was warm and marine life was in abundance!

being particularly happy at that time, i reached my destructive quota by merely poking at some sea cucumbers, kicking up sand under the sea and chasing around pretty fish. not much uproar at all.

but i warn you. the reefs are quite a distance from the beach. do ask where they are before going WEEEeeeee! head first into the sea and swim towards a general 'i think the reefs are calling me from there' direction.

please, ASK.

we departed for land around 4 in the evening and walked to Filipino Market. the market was a display of everything under the sea; dried seahorse, souvenir corals, pearls... and everything a tourist needs to prove that they were in KK; local delicacies, souvenirs with KK prints, tribal masks... it was exciting browsing the stalls, looking at food that you never knew it was edible, devouring sample biscuits (the best part! >.<) and drinking coconut juice:)

this was definitely a well-spent day with a snorkeling tan to show off.

Kota Kinabalu escape Day 1

Kota Kinabalu is awesome!

the fact that they have secret recipe and McD alone is enough to be in my list of the best cities in the world... huhu

so in my 3 days visit, my friend and i went to Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre on the first. it's a quiet, obscure place that we somehow found in a brochure. and i totally like it! how can you resist a RM3 boardwalk into a patch of mangrove forest with the ticket thanking you for visiting in eight languages?

but somehow our seemingly harmless walk has caused great disturbance in the balance of the ~~universe~~ forest. i, being completely easily amused by anything i see, almost stuck my head into the mud just to get a better view at the crabs, the mudskippers and other unfortunate, startled lifeforms there.

a poor, shaken soul

and that doesn't end there. you see, there's a patch of the forest where the boardwalk ends and the gravel path begins. it was dangerous... to the wildlife there. i was sooo close to the crab holes and dunes, correction, i was actually standing on top of them:p and poking their homes with a long stick (the holes are really deep), and demolishing the dunes with inelegant taekwondo side-kicks. all in hope for an angry occupant to rush out with their claws ready to snap my limbs off. how disappointing. the lack of retaliation suggested that they were probably still at work. i hope they still recognise ~~the ruins~~ their holes when they get back.

at this point, the centre needs to take back their thank you in eight languages.

i didn't leave the plants alone either. those poor rooted beings (meaning no escape) were probably screaming in agony (fortunately in decibels beyond human hearing) from all the non-stop flashes of my camera. i might have stunted their growth in a long run.

can you hear their collective screams?

the only creature unaffected by our terrorist attempt was a white egret, who cleverly stayed on the river and beyond photographing range, sneering at us (i swear it was! )

that concludes my wetland ~~terrorising~~ visit. do drop a comment or two to suggest my proper divine punishment:D

brooding at the airport

i am back home for my raya break (sings random raya songs, off tune).

but this must be one of the most hectic trips so far: i had to stay overnight at the airport.

camping on the stiff stools of McD, i have beaten myself into a quarter pound burger (multiple times) for leaving my lappy at home. i should have brought my lappy along!! at least i can bug someone on gtalk or spam fin with lots of emails or start another anime marathon or stalk my favourite illustrators for the nth time...

if there's a next time (better not), i will set up a real tent at LCCT, something like this...

~beam~ coz i have already brought ~~almost~~ everything from towels, toothbrush, mp3 players to emergency snacks. no harm bringing more. just hope that airport security wouldn't come poking around. it's a hassle to build fences. the thorny ones.

unfortunately, i couldn't elaborate any further about my nil star airport stay. by midnight, my brain has ceased functioning and autopilot took over. i couldn't remember how i got home from my McD stool. through 'a freak wormhole opened up in the fabric of the space-time continuum' perhaps? ~laughs.

the actual details might probably bore you but i am telling anyway, as the thought of my readers pulling out their hair while reading this feels like payback for my suffering.

i was just a lump of grey doodling pitch forks and torches on my travel sketchbook and listening to JRock the entire night.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has been a great company, till the words started bouncing off the pages and i had to switch to watching 'homo sapiens at the airport, the documentary'.

and i take the pleasure of further reducing my readers' hair by listing the 'emergency snacks' that i have consumed, a mini Mars bar, a mini Sneackers bar, two 250ml peelfresh orange juice, one McD chicken porridge, two bottles of 600ml mineral water and a Moroccan latte from The Great Coffee Bean.

first thing i smsed to my family and housemate when landed,

a drowned rat checked in tune hotel's refreshment package,

i can't believe i am willing to pay RM45 for 3 hours.

it's a CONSPIRACY! they delay my flight. make me check in their hotels, make me eat more meals and have snacks in their airport...

~but after less than 15 minutes,

RM45 is worth the hot shower. a nice and looooong one.

oh well, better than breathing in H1N1 saturated air and watch a 7hours documentary, 'homo sapiens at the airport':P

and this droolable tuna nigiri coin purse, with a beyond-healthy slab of tuna. with this, i rather carry my purse with my mouth instead... huhu

then they have these really nifty Ts that i can never have enough.

idiot's guide to semi-auto washing machines

if you haven't seen a semi-auto washing machine before, then we are on the same spacecraft.

my friend and i bought this a few days ago, it's on sale [insert happy dance].

we wanted a washing machine but getting a NASA-inspired, Japanese engineered one was way beyond our pockets. so my friend suggested that we get a semi-auto one.

'what's that?' asked the girl on a hovering skateboard.

so at the shop, i studied this plastic basin with two lids and a few knobs. fascinated.

while soaking my friend to the bones with a downpour of 'what's and 'why's, i tapped around the machine hoping to find a non-plastic part. i unfastened and quickly fastened the lids (the whole thing was meant to come off but i thought i broke it:p), put my head in the loader to get a better view of the nothingness, and got addicted turning the knobs that made a clicking sound. it was a national geographic experience for me:D

finally gave the thumbs up after realising this thing actually works ~~and the shop was willing to give an extra discount plus free delivery~~.

so far, i have learnt from a crash course that,

i can... manually fill water into the tank while it's operating, manually drain the water, and manually transfer my laundry from the left tank to the right for spin.

the machine can... spin. well, at different speeds.

but it is without a question, a convenient tool and i simply love the fact that i can watch my clothes swirl like mad in water with nothing in between. the thing still hums happily without the lid and i can stick my finger in the whirlpool (grins like mad, ~~yuen~~ child safe what?)

can't wait for the next laundry day:D

three small mice

WARNING: animals were harmed in the process

two days ago...

so, i was about to dive head first into my bed when i noticed 3 presence: small mice on my bed.

it took me 0.2 seconds to process the following: too tired> illusion> not illusion> everyone should just die> **** before we went into a heated (on my part) staring contest.

in the end, i spent two hours on a killing spree and removed all the bloody evidence.

just kidding. though i contemplated 0.3 seconds on that part.

in the end, i spent two hours catching the mice in plastic bags, cursed, gave them a top spin ride in the bags [insert mad laughter] and sent them back to their dumpster home, all wobbly.

then disinfect my whole room while cursing: the sheets, the bed, the floor... fumigated it with my trusted Glade Air Sanitiser: contains TEG to kill odour causing bacteria in the air (so it claims).

then had an emergency meeting about the security breach. then rang up Sherlock to find it, presumably the hole in the ceiling.

then sealed the entrance with cardboard, lots of tape and a sting of curses while balancing myself on a stack of tables and chairs.

soo much combat and too much cursing in the middle of the night. too much to the point that i think i summoned a demon portal... sigh.

now i fear the vengeance of the mommy mouse. better practise my batting skills with a broomstick. lolx

i have been brainstorming this theme in the most conducive matter: while trying to drown myself in the shower and while playing dead under the blanket... not much progress.

instead i sidetracked and ended up filling my thinking pad with stick figures drowning in coffee, tied to a kite, tied to balloons and more drowning in various liquids... gosh.

anyway, so ~~not very~~ far, i have decided to dedicate the last few pages of my yet-to-arrive-sketchbook to interpret the theme (probably write my line of thoughts in colourful ink or something)

ArtHouse Sketchbook Project

i can't believe i did that...

only minutes ago i made Arthouse co-op sent me a moleskine sketchbook all the way from the US T.T

panic now! AWWWwwwww!!!

so here's what my self-inflicted chaos is all about,

i signed up for a sketchbook project. Arthouse co-op sends me a moleskine and a randomly picked theme. i fill up the book with my doodles and send the book back before dec 1st. then Arthouse will bring my sketchbook on a tour to galleries around US and eventually it will be in a permanent sketchbook library, somewhere.

i might not see the sketchbook again, unless i save up enough money and fly all the way across the globe to say hi... huhu

ArtHouse sent me a theme right away (so efficient lah):

i have been ~~stalking~~ keeping an eye on this contest, and finally,

so much talent, so much skills.

looking at the artworks, it felt like being sucked into a distorted, buzzing, wildly colourful tornado. swirling, swirling, swirling. won't stop swirling.

can't help reaching for the screen, trace those lines with my finger... touching perfection.

overwhelming.

can't help feeling how i am merely a drop of paint in this vast vast canvas of the universe.

can't help wishing, just once. just once i could look at the world through their eyes.

gosh, my fingers won't stop trembling. just like the times (every single time) i visit art museums. the same gushing sensation that is beyond processing. no wonder they have cozy benches everywhere, just so you won't hurt yourself when your knees gave in, in awe.

before you ask. NO people. i am not on psychedelic drugs...

so emo. fishes out sketchbook. looks like school work has to wait...

i know teachers actually drink ink for breakfast, though we insist it's coffee (or prob it's a mix of both, huhu).

so here's 'good' coffee... secret to my dark hair and reason for the loose screws in my head.

i have been apparating around this hols, going places, devouring food... neglecting my blog yet again.

so what have i been mousing around?

pre-Graduation- eat, hugs and kisses while chewing, eat...

hang out with kerbau at italiannies. to him, it was blog-worthy goodness. involving an odd union of master yoda, julius caeser and garfield.

and with the girls too, as anne perfectly dubbed one of the ketchups in KL. we raided zanmai sushi, built an empire of sushi, udons and green tea parfaits expanded from the table tops to the pits our stomachs. A blast!

Graduation- mortarboards soared in the skies

a double blast! more hugs and kisses while walking around campus in Hogwart robes and funny hats. thank you for the music, the bouquets and pats on the shoulder.

later that week, i had strawberry parfait, strawberry cake, strawberry yogurt, strawberry with whipped cream, dried strawberries, strawberries, strawberries and strawberries:D

and was delighted to know the all new Boh Tea Cafe.

the rest of my holidays were boring accounts of me devouring food here, me devouring food there, me playing dead here, me playing dead there, me counting my new colour pencils and me counting my new colour pencils again.

here's the Declaration of 'Rights and Responsibilities' of a Nerd/ Geek that i ripped from wikipedia,

Rights:

The right to be even nerdier.
The right to not leave your house.
The right to not have a significant other and to be a virgin.
The right to not like football or any other sport.
The right to associate with other nerds.
The right to have few friends (or none at all).
The right to have all the nerdy friends that you want.
The right to not be "in-style."
The right to be overweight and have poor eyesight.
The right to show off your nerdiness.
The right to take over the world.

Responsibilities:

Be a nerd, no matter what.
Try to be nerdier than anyone else.
If there is a discussion about something nerdy, you must give your opinion.
Save any and all nerdy things you have.
Do everything you can to show off your nerdy stuff as though it were a "museum of nerdiness."
Don't be a generalized nerd. You must specialize in something.
Attend every nerdy movie on opening night and buy every nerdy book before anyone else.
Wait in line on every opening night. If you can go in costume or at least with a related T-shirt, all the better.
